i've seen the darkest corners
& i've been down to depths you could never imagine.
the walls broke down over my head more than once
& the fat lady sang to me over a thousand times,
spitting her poison into my veins,
but with a punch in her face
i got back on my feet,
knowing that nothing will ever be perfect.
i walk endlessly through this dessert
filled with false hopes & good intentions;
ruins marking my way.
knowing my failure might be just one last breath away.
but this isn't the first time that life drags me down
& for sure it won't be the last;
but i'll stand against the oncoming storm.
and with my head held high
& my heart on my sleeve
i will walk down this path of life,
enjoying the wounds of my sore feet
& the scars on my back.
always reaching for more.
never reaching for the end.

the road seems to be endless
his mouth is dry, his feet are sore
there's no place where he can rest
the vultures are flying in circels over his head
waiting for him to vacate
the sun is sneering over his sunburnt neck
knowing his life is going to end
he still keeps on running away
covering behind his lies
pretending to be
but every lie is a new obstacle in his way
the only way to get out
the only way to survive
is to face up with the truth
to break up with pretending
show your inside, stay alive

rewarded by flowers on the grave
but fools never open their eyes
